Open for Business During the COVID-19 Outbreak

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

Over the past few weeks, Sitzman AE Translations has joined the hundreds of thousands of businesses across the globe who have discontinued physical business activity and implemented strict social distancing policies to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Seeing as my commute generally consists of embarking on a journey of twenty steps from the breakfast table to my office chair, business operations themselves have seen minimal impact. Social distancing, self-isolating, and avoidance of public spaces have, however, been fully integrated into my daily routine. I can only imagine the challenges faced by businesses with more complex logistical needs and commend them for the hard work they are putting in to overcome their challenges in the face of this invisible menace to society.

The reality that awaits beyond the realm of my home office is truly surreal. It is a reality where surfaces at the grocery store seem so hazardous, they may as well be made of lava. A reality where journeys through public spaces have transformed into a game of antisocial hide and seek. A reality where toilet paper, frozen foods, and cough syrup are hot commodities. A reality where ordering food from restaurants has taken on the characteristics of a secret drug deal. (Leave it on the doorstep, ring the bell three times, stand on your head while holding your breath for 30 seconds, wipe the doorbell with disinfectant, then leave. Oh, and don’t forget the hot sauce.)

During this time of crisis, I would like to assure you that Sitzman AE Translation continues to wholeheartedly pursue its mission of fostering global communication. I stand at the ready to accept projects large and small. In order to facilitate rapid international communication on urgent matters related to the pandemic, I am also committed to waiving all rush fees for urgent projects.

People may not be able to leave the house during this worrisome time, but linguistics certainly can. Ten years of experience in the translation industry have shown me that a lengthy German word or quirky English phrase has the ability to light up anyone’s day. Next week, my linguistic creations will be leaving the house in a very special way that I hope will make a familiar day at home a bit more interesting. Stay tuned next week for more!
